The short answer
Polymarket's fee = shares × rate × price × (1 − price). A $100 instant buy at 50¢ pays $2.50 on sports and esports, $3.50 on crypto and $2.00 on politics. A limit order that waits for its price pays no fee. Set your price, amount and market below to see the fee on your bet.

A $100 bet at 50¢ buys 200 shares, so its fee is twice the fee on 100 shares. Polymarket's documentation counts per 100 shares; we show both so the numbers match whichever you read.
How the calculator counts
- Shares. Your amount divided by the price: $100 at 40¢ is 250 shares.
- Fee. Shares × rate × price × (1 − price), with the price in dollars. On a buy, the fee is added on top of the price and you get all your shares; on a sale, it comes out of what you receive.
- Break-even. The share of bets you need to win so that wins pay for losses and fees: price × (1 + rate × (1 − price)).
- Limit order. An order that waits for its price and trades later pays no fee.

Questions
How much is the Polymarket fee on a $100 bet?
It depends on the price and the market. At 50¢: $2.50 on sports and esports, $3.50 on crypto, $2.00 on politics, finance and tech. At 20¢ on sports it is $4.00; at 80¢, $1.00.
Is the fee higher on cheap shares?
As a share of your bet, yes. Per share, the fee is largest at 50¢, but a cheap price buys many more shares, so a $100 bet at 5¢ on sports pays $4.75 and at 95¢ pays $0.25.
Do I pay a fee when I sell?
Yes, if you sell instantly before the market ends: the same formula, taken from what you receive. Nothing is taken from a winning share at the end; it pays $1.
Does Polymarket give part of the fee back?
Since 28 May 2026 Polymarket returns 3% to 50% of the fee on instant trades, by level over the last 30 days. How the levels work.
