The short answer
Polymarket's 50 most profitable traders of the month made +$31.2M over 30 days, as their Polymarket profiles show. They paid $1,024,332.44 in fees, and Polymarket paid $400,310.01 of it back to them. For a typical leader, fees took about 1.8% of the month's profit.
That is very different from small traders who buy instantly. On 5-minute crypto rounds, fees turned 11 of 29 wallets we checked from a profit into a loss. The difference is less about size and more about how the money goes in.

What we checked
We took Polymarket's monthly leaderboard by profit on 10 October 2026 and ran each of the top 50 wallets through the same free check this site runs for anyone. 2 of the 50 had no trades in our 30-day window, so 48 wallets are in the numbers below. Every fee comes from Polymarket's own public records, trade by trade. The 30-day result is copied from each Polymarket profile; we don't calculate it. The leaderboard and the profile cover slightly different periods, so a few results differ from the leaderboard, and one is below zero.
12 wallets traded so much that only part of their history is public. For them, real fees are higher than shown. They are marked with * in the table.
What we found
- Fees were a small part of the leaders' profit. For the 35 leaders with full history and a profit, the typical one paid about 1.8% of its profit in fees. 4 paid more than 10%. The highest was 26.2%: theowalcott paid $25,512.63 in fees on a month Polymarket shows as +$97,276.
- Two ways to trade, two very different bills. Of the 36 leaders with full history, 13 put 70% or more of their money in with limit orders that wait for their price. They paid $116,126 in fees and got $91,816 back from Polymarket. 6 leaders put 70% or more in with instant buys. They paid $173,164 and got $43,806 back. As a share of the money bet, the typical fee was about 0.38% for the first group and about 0.91% for the second.
- For some, Polymarket paid more than it charged. 5 of the 36 leaders with full history got more back than they paid in fees. BreakTheBank paid $4,936.22 and got $25,665.47 back.
- Big leaders still pay big amounts. 24 of the 48 paid $10,000 or more in fees in 30 days. 00gringo00 paid $129,177.54, totoro3miyazaki $113,618.94.
Why small traders see a different picture
A leader making millions can pay six figures in fees and still keep almost all of the month. A trader making small bets all day has a thin profit, and the fee on every instant buy comes out of that thin profit. In the 5-minute crypto wallets we checked, fees were about 2.9% of all the money bet. More in fees on 5-minute markets and fees on live betting.

Last 30 days to 10 October 2026. "Polymarket shows" is the profit or loss on the Polymarket profile. "Paid back" is what Polymarket returned: part of the fee, a share of other traders' fees for limit orders that waited, rewards and payments for holding. It is not part of the profile figure.

Read this with care
This is one month and one leaderboard. Leaders change every month, and the profile figure changes every day. These numbers describe what these wallets paid, not how to trade.
Questions
Do Polymarket's top traders pay fees?
Yes. Every instant buy or sale pays the fee, for everyone. Limit orders that wait for their price pay nothing, and many leaders use them for most of their money.
Why is the money paid back not in the profile profit?
Polymarket sends it to the wallet separately. The profit or loss on the profile already has fees taken out, but the money paid back is not added to it.
Can I see these numbers for one of these wallets?
Yes. Paste any public Polymarket address into the free check above. It shows fees for the last 30 days, to the cent, and what Polymarket paid back.
